About the Role

As a Cyber Security Engineer you will be the technical backbone of the organisation’s defence. You’ll design, implement and monitor the controls that keep data, infrastructure and customers safe — working hands-on across on-premise and cloud environments. This is a rare opportunity to shape security architecture from the ground up while responding to live threats in a fast-moving business.

What You’ll Do

• Monitor, detect and respond to security incidents across networks, endpoints and cloud workloads (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Manage and tune SIEM, EDR/XDR, firewall and vulnerability-management tooling.
• Lead vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation with engineering teams.
• Harden systems in line with ISO 27001, NIST and the POPIA requirements applicable in South Africa.
• Run security awareness initiatives and support incident-response readiness across the business.
• Automate detection and response using scripting (Python, PowerShell or Bash).

What You’ll Bring

• 3–6 years’ experience in cyber security, information security or a SOC/blue-team role.
• Strong knowledge of network security, cloud security and identity & access management.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM/EDR platforms and modern threat-detection techniques.
• Relevant certifications are highly advantageous — Security+, CEH, AWS/Azure Security, CISSP or CISM.
• A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a calm, methodical approach under pressure.
