About the Role

As the Retail Buyer for fashion and apparel, you will be the creative architect behind our client’s seasonal collections. You will blend an intuitive understanding of global fashion trends with sharp commercial instincts to build ranges that captivate consumers and drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Curate, source, and select commercial apparel ranges that align with the target demographic.
• Negotiate pricing, trading terms, and delivery schedules to ensure optimal profit margins.
• Analyse current sales data, market trends, and competitor offerings to inform buying strategies.
• Collaborate intimately with merchandise planners to determine seasonal budgets and range plans.
• Manage the critical path for product development, ensuring timely delivery from concept to shop floor.
• Identify and onboard new, reliable suppliers while nurturing existing vendor relationships.
• Conduct regular store visits and gather consumer feedback to refine future collections.
• Work with marketing and visual merchandising teams to ensure compelling product launches.
• Monitor the quality of incoming garments to ensure adherence to strict brand standards.
• Present upcoming collections and strategic buying rationale to the executive team.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Fashion Design, Consumer Science, or Retail Management.
• At least 4 years of proven experience as a buyer within the fashion and apparel sector.
• Demonstrated capability in end-to-end garment sourcing and product development.
• Strong portfolio showcasing commercial success and trend forecasting abilities.
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally for sourcing and trend research.

• An exceptional eye for fashion, colour palettes, and fabric quality.
• Fierce negotiation skills backed by solid commercial and financial acumen.
• Ability to translate catwalk trends into wearable, high-volume retail successes.
