This role is essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams to align stock levels with sales forecasts, ensuring maximum profitability.

About the Role

Stepping into the position of Senior Planner, you will be the commercial compass for our client’s fashion and footwear divisions. You will utilise robust data analysis to optimise inventory, mitigate markdowns, and ensure the right product reaches the right stores at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and execute comprehensive merchandise plans for fashion and footwear categories.
• Analyse historical sales data and market trends to accurately forecast future demand.
• Collaborate closely with buying teams to establish seasonal budgets and assortment plans.
• Optimise inventory levels to maximise sales and minimise residual stock.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including sell-through rates and margin.
• Identify and implement strategies to improve stock turn and overall profitability.
• Conduct regular store visits to understand local market dynamics and consumer behaviour.
• Manage the Open-to-Buy process with precision and commercial foresight.
• Mentor junior planning staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
• Present strategic financial reviews and forecasts to senior leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, or Retail Business Management.
• At least 5 years of merchandise planning experience, specifically within fashion or footwear.
• Demonstrable success in managing large-scale budgets and forecasting models.
• Advanced proficiency in retail planning software and data analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of the South African retail landscape.
