About the Role

Hire Group is recruiting a Juniour Accountant in South Africa to join a growing UK-based accounting and finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career South African accountant to build practical accounting experience, gain international exposure working with a UK team, and grow within a supportive environment. One position is available.

Location

This role is based in South Africa (remote-friendly), working alongside a UK-based finance team.

Planned Start Date

The planned starting date for this position is October 2026.

Minimum Requirements

  • 0–2 years of accounting experience (recent graduates and trainees welcome).
  • A relevant accounting qualification, diploma or degree (e.g. BCom Accounting or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of core accounting principles, the accounting cycle, reconciliations and general-ledger basics.
  • Exposure to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and bank reconciliations (practical experience is a strong advantage).
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or Pastel).
  • Strong attention to detail, numeracy and a genuine willingness to learn.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication for working with an international team.
  • Able to work South African hours with some overlap with UK business hours.

Preferred Credentials

  • BCom in Accounting / Financial Accounting, or actively studying towards a professional qualification.
  • Registered as a trainee with SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA (or working towards registration).
  • Progress towards CA(SA), AGA(SA), Professional Accountant (SA) or ACCA is highly regarded.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud accounting tools and month-end processes.
