About the Role

Hire Group is recruiting an Accountant in South Africa to join a growing UK-based accounting and finance team. You will work within a supportive international environment while building valuable cross-border accounting experience alongside a UK team. One position is available.

Location

This role is based in South Africa (remote-friendly), working alongside a UK-based finance team.

Planned Start Date

The planned starting date for this position is October 2026.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • A relevant accounting qualification or degree (e.g. BCom Accounting or equivalent).
  • Solid working knowledge of the full accounting function: general ledger, journals, reconciliations, VAT and month-end close.
  • Experience preparing management accounts and supporting the reporting cycle.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or Pastel).
  • Sound understanding of South African tax and statutory requirements (SARS, VAT, PAYE).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication for working with an international team.
  • Able to work South African hours with some overlap with UK business hours.

Preferred Credentials

  • Completed SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA articles / professional training.
  • A professional designation such as CA(SA), Professional Accountant (SA) [SAIPA], AGA(SA), ACCA or CIMA (CGMA).
  • BCom Honours in Accounting or a similar advanced qualification is advantageous.
  • Experience working with international or UK-based clients or teams.
